Late last year, the Sundance community was deeply saddened by the passing of filmmaker Jamie Redford. At 4:00 p.m. MT, on the penultimate day of the 2021 Festival, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating his memory at the premiere of his film Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir. A look into the life and legacy of literary titan Amy Tan, author of best sellers like The Joy Luck Club, the documentary goes deep, moving through generations of Tan’s family and contextualizing the patience with which Tan broke through barriers and waited on the other side, welcoming the world to join her.
And at 6:00 p.m. MT, tune in for one of the most anticipated events of the Fest. You’re invited to take a front-row seat at our annual Awards Night Ceremony, no ticket or pass required (but you will have to sign in). Join us to see which projects were selected for top honors by our jury members—and by you, our adventurous audiences. Did we mention that actor and comedian Patton Oswalt is emceeing the evening? And that we’ll have some very special presenters on hand? You’re not going to want to miss this one.
