Filmfestivals.com is a proud partner of the festival

It is not everyday a Monarchy founded a film festival, it is the first of its kind, hosts editions in multiple markets, and highlights "films of purpose," all in an effort to save the planet, and even works year round supporting cocoa farmers world-wide and spreading the message of climate change, and gender equality. This is no other than our festival partner Royal Cocoa International Film Festivals (RCIFF), Founded by Their Royal Majesties of Eti-Oni, Oba (King) Dokun Thompson Gureje IV, The Oloni of Eti-Oni and Queen Angelique-Monet (Queen Consort). Last November, the maiden edition was a success at the Kingdom of Eti-Oni, Osun State, Nigeria. The Kingdom of Eti-Oni is the oldest cocoa plantation in Nigeria (producing cocoa since 1896 and is ruled by a Monarchy, His Majesty The Oloni of Eti-Oni).

The Lagos edition is set take place at Silverbird Galleria in Lagos, Nigeria and is focusing on 7 C's "Cocoa, Culture, Climate, Community, Chocolate, Creativity, Change." The full film line-up of films from around the world are set to be announced on March 25th. To caption Climate Change and Environment will be Susan Kucera's newest release "12th Hour" narrated by Emmy nominated David Morse and her classic film "Living In The Future's Past" narrated by Screen Actors Guild Winner, Two Time Golden Globe winner and Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges.

In addition the festival is set to honour Susan Kucera's two films  at the Royal Cocoa International Film Awards"12th Hour," is set to receive "Best Conservation & Preservation" Feature Length Documentary and David Morse is set to receive "Merit of Distinction" for ``Narrative of Feature Length Documentary."  "Living In The Future's Past," is set to receive "Best Environmental Protection," and Jeff Bridges is set to receive a "Golden Jubilee Merit of Distinction" for Feature Length Documentary Film.

"It is crucial that climate change is taken seriously and we want to commend Susan Kucera and her team for producing bodies of work with celebrities that are using their influence to spread the message of protecting our environment. Our Kingdom at Eti-Oni is home to the oldest cocoa plantation in Nigeria and located in the tropical rainforest belt of Sub-Sahara West Africa in the Southwest Region of Nigeria. Our film festival was founded to celebrate cocoa farmers not only at our Kingdom where a majority are women farmers but all cocoa producing regions across the globe. Despite cocoa being a $200 Billion US Dollar industry annually and our love for chocolate, most cocoa farmers lack the basic resources for a sustainable future and most are women who suffer from gender inequality and an environment that is challenged by climate change; yet, they are the gatekeepers in most communities and our forests.  Films of purpose are a medium for individuals to join the discussion but the discussion must also produce change and support the efforts of every producing region. On our end we have created infrastructure for education, health care, and farming school for women and next generation farmers to be productive and live in a cohesive society. This education would hopefully inform them on how to protect the environment and not fall victim to deforestation and other unethical practices that have long term negative effects.”

“Climate Change affects us now, and certainly will affect future generations. The brutal truth is if we as the human species continue as we have, human beings may suffer a climate disruption. We can do something about this and this is why we are proud of Living In The Future's Past and 12th Hour.  We also want to send a special thank you to Bruno Chatelin of Filmfestivals.com who has supported our film festivals and films that can make a global impact. Let us just remember Mother Nature is beautiful and she deserves for humans to live in harmony with her,” stated HRM Queen Angelique-Monet of Eti-Oni (Co-Founder of Royal Cocoa International Film Festivals, President of Eti-Oni Development Group).

Royal Cocoa International Film Festivals (RCIFF) will take place during the 3rd edition of Eko Chocolate Show, the “Biggest Show dedicated to Chocolate in Africa." RCIFF will exhibit films from around the world and will make the Official Film Line-up Announcement on March 25, 2022 in an official event via the facebook page at 12 PM New York Time, and 6 PM Lagos Time.

The event is produced by Eti-Oni Cocoa Events and brought to you by Eti-Oni Development Group and International Cocoa Diplomacy with New Generation In Action's Artisan Festival International World Peace Initiative (NGIA-AFIWPI), an international USA based Non Governmental Organization In Consultative Status to the United Nations as the  Institutional Partner while Silverbird Group and FilmFestivals.com are media partners.
