Boston Israeli Film Festival 2022 — line up announced for hybrid version March 24-30, 2022

Shared by Israelis, Jordanians, and Palestine, the Dead Sea is a unique salt-lake of exceptional value set at the lowest point on earth. It is also a looming regional disaster--huge sinkholes, abandoned beaches, and collapsing roads on all sides presage an ecological catastrophe. So far, regional leaders have failed to mount an effective response. Enter our heroes. Three men— an Israeli, a Jordanian, and a Palestinian--propose a bold first step: an unprecedented and dangerous swim across the Dead Sea.

One brilliant conductor, three gifted composers, and 100 musicians from different backgrounds meet for four days of rehearsals to pull off a concert unlike any other: a concert played in Jerusalem on broken instruments. With professional and amateur musicians, young and old, this orchestra comes together in an attempt to create harmony in a discordant city.

Nine Arab and Jewish women take part in a video workshop hosted by a young female filmmaker. The women (featuring a mix of seasoned and nonprofessional actors) learn to tell their stories in video. Sharing personal stories of frustration and joy, they share their videos with the group, with each raw story forcing them to examine their beliefs, identities, and ambitions. 

Sami is an Israeli Palestinian who lives in Jerusalem with his wife and son. One day he travels with his family to his native village to attend his brother's wedding. The next day, Israeli soldiers put the village under lockdown with no explanation. With each day of confinement, the villagers grow more restless and angry. Tensions and tempers flare. Cut off from his job, friends, and home, Sami watches helplessly as his life falls apart.
