We are very proud to reveal the details of our long weekend in Milan, from 8 to 10 October, dedicated to the independent cinema. The Porta Venezia district will become the Milano Film Festival 2021 headquarter with its three special locations: the outdoor arena at the Giardini Indro Montanelli in Via Palestro, the Cineteca Milano MEET in Viale Vittorio Veneto, and the Arcobaleno Film Center in Viale Tunisia.
Let's get into the program of this special edition!
THE SECTIONS
The International Film Competition: 4 feature films and about 20 short films.
The Outsiders: the films of many renowned and international independent directors.
Homage to Bertrand Mandico: a visionary French director.
THE SPECIAL EVENTS
The Food Wave: the Movie, the Food, the Environment, to explore the relationship between nutrition and sustainability.
Director for a book, to celebrate the emerging directors through cinema and literature.
Meet the Industry, to enhance the work of the audiovisual operators in Milan.
Behind the scenes of a collective film, the making of a collective short film dedicated to Milan.
La Gran Bissa de Milàn, a collective exhibition inspired by the Milanese Biscione, curated by the Tazi Zine association, with 56 different works exploring and redesign the heraldic symbol of the city and the Festival.
And a Scenographic installation by the Brera Academy's students will invite us to come back safety to reality, having fun between cinema and gaming!
THE AWARDS AND THE JURY
International Film Competition Award: the prize awarded to the MFF2021 winning film.
Jury Special Award: a special mention assigned by the jury to a particular deserving film.
Aprile Award: this prize goes to the short film or feature film judged by esterni as most representative of the festival’s artistic choices.
Audience Award: last but not least, the prize awarded by the public’s choice.
the jury is composed by the journalist Ilaria Feole, the writer Lorenza Gentile and the director Enrico Maisto.
Milano Film Festival 2021 is directed for the third consecutive edition by the Oscar-winning director Gabriele Salvatores and cultural journalist Alessandro Beretta.
