Stockfish Film Festival & Industry Days is a non-profit international film festival held in March each year in Bíó Paradís, the only art-house cinema in Iceland. During the festival, we screen around 30 hand-picked award-winning films and host various events and meet-ups geared towards industry members and film enthusiasts alike.
Stockfish Film Festival aims to create a platform in Reykjavík to encourage collaboration between domestic and international film communities. Through the years great many international award-winning directors and film professionals have accepted Stockfish invitation to speak at the festivals many conferences, celebrations, panels, Q&A sessions and master classes. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year the masterclasses will be online.
The festival will show some of the most up-and-coming films in the world, which the Icelandic audience would not have an opportunity to see otherwise, and invite international filmmakers to discuss filmmaking, the industry and the community.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES
The festival is operated by a Board of Directors which includes some members of the major film professional associations in Iceland. The festival was founded in 2015, as a reincarnation of the Reykjavík Film Festival (Kvikmyndahátíð Reykjavíkur), which was established in 1978. It appeals to both people in the film industry and those who are interested in the wellbeing of international filmmaking.
Stockfish is a collaboration between all the film professional associations in Iceland. The main goal is to serve the community, encourage and enrich the film culture in Iceland and support the film industry in Iceland both locally and abroad.
Members of the board of Stockfish are representatives for all associations in the film industry in Iceland. Friðrik Þór Friðriksson - Director and producer, Guðrún Edda Þórhannesdóttir – Producer, Ari Alexander Ergis Magnússon - Filmmaker
Huldar Breiðfjörð – Screenwriter, Tinna Hrafnsdóttir - Icelandic Actors Association, Sunna Guðrún Pétursdóttir - Icelandic Filmmakers Association
