Los Angeles Greek Film Festival is almost here

RENDEZVOUS OCTOBER 1-15

One thing that no crisis can eradicate is the human need to come together, and to come together through art. Although the pandemic has challenged everything we have taken for granted thus far, it has also compelled us to search and to find new ways of connection and interactivity. These are here to stay. Until we meet at the theaters again, join us virtually, watch films with your friends and family at home and get to know our filmmakers from all corners of the world right there, on your screen, in close-up!

MICHAEL ECONOMOU, VALERIE ESTES,

IN MEMORIAM

A long time member of LAGFF's Advisory Board, Michael Economou was always one of the first to offer his advice, his assistance, and above all, his love for the Festival. He was a member of the Writers Guild, Producers Guild, Film Editors Guild, and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, where he was a judge in the annual International Screenplay Competition, a member of the Foreign Films Nominating Committee and the Executive Committee for Foreign Student Films. He taught at the USC School of Cinema, Masters Division, and conducted writing seminars and workshops around the world. His many awards included an Emmy and an Oscar nomination for the feature-length documentary OFF THE EDGE (1976), which he wrote, co-produced and edited. Michael was known for his sparkling intelligence and his warm humor. We will miss him!

Valerie Estes was a dynamic presence in the Greek American community of Los Angeles. With an appreciation for the arts, and a member of the Opera League of Los Angeles, Valerie volunteered her organizing talents and enthusiastic energy to LAGFF whether by helping our fundraising efforts or at the box office. We will miss her welcoming smile!
