The 2020 Toronto International Film Festival runs September 10–19. Registration will close on September 2 at 11:59pm EDT.

In addition to the 50 films in Official Selection, professionals will now be able to access even more content from the comfort of their own homes. This includes films that are part of our new TIFF Industry Selects distinction, which presents up to 30 highly anticipated and carefully chosen international sales titles. These titles will be announced in an upcoming press release, so stay tuned. We will also be moving our private screening programme online, where sales agents can book daily slots to get their newest films in front of international buyers.

Our full lineup for the Industry Conference is coming August 25. Until then, here’s a sneak peek at who you can expect to see.

TIFF Industry Selects (new this year!)

With fewer films in our Official Selection this year, we have introduced a new TIFF Industry Selects distinction to provide more sales opportunities for sales agents, and more available content for buyers. This distinction will be given to up to 30 exciting sales titles from around the world that would have likely made it into our lineup in a more robust year. These screenings will be launched daily on TIFF Digital Cinema Pro September 9–14.

Important note: Similar to past years, access to TIFF Industry Selects and private screenings will be determined by the rights holder.

Industry Conference

The digital Industry Conference will feature an exciting lineup of speakers as part of the Master Class, Perspectives, and Dialogues streams, including:

  • dream hampton — filmmaker and executive producer of Surviving R. Kelly, Finding Justice, and Resist; named one of the 100 most influential people of 2019 in Time Magazine. Session sponsored by SHOWTIME® Documentary Films.
  • Nina Jacobson — producer of the commercial successes Crazy Rich Asians, the Hunger Games franchise, Pose (FX), and more
  • Lenny Abrahamson — director of the Emmy-nominated Normal People (Hulu) and the critically acclaimed Room
  • Chelsea Winstanley — co-director of Waru and producer of Jojo Rabbit
  • Misha Green — co-creator with Jordan Peele of Lovecraft Country (HBO) and creator-writer of Underground

The full lineup of sessions with leading TIFF Ambassadors and celebrated voices in the film industry will be announced on August 25.

National Agency Promotion

Looking to get in touch with a National Promotional Agency? You’ll be able to find them on our TIFF Digital Cinema Pro platform instead of the Hyatt Regency Toronto this year. National Promotional Agencies will have a footprint on our platform to showcase completed productions and co-productions, as well as new initiatives and talent, through curated Spotlight talks available to all registered professionals.
