Festival La Rochelle Cinéma (FEMA) is unable to be held in the cinemas of La Rochelle on the scheduled dates, but we are doing all we can for this 48th edition to exist in various forms.

First of all, on line, in partnership with LaCinetek, whose first cine-club we hosted last July with Suspiria presented by Dario Argento. From next 26 June to 5 July, nine films from the Roberto Rossellini and René Clément retrospectives in the 2020 programme will be presented; an unmissable evening with Serge Bromberg will be held; as well as talks with filmmakers, including our beloved patron Mathieu Amalric, who has a few surprises in store for you!

For this autumn, we are dreaming of a FEMA to be held over a long weekend in La Rochelle… but also throughout France, since we have received warm invitations from cinema owners in Pau, Angouleme, Paris, Strasbourg, etc.

Our thanks also go out to fellow festivals in La Rochelle, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Paris, who have offered us cartes blanches that we’ve accepted with great pleasure.

The cinemas remain closed but many projects are underway so that we can reunite soon around our love of film.

As we await further updates for you on this exceptional edition, here is a spot of reading, with two articles that have mobilised the profession:

« Pour une diversité du cinéma sur France Télévisions », [For the diversity of cinema on France Télévisions], published in Le Monde and signed by FEMA: : pour-une-diversite-du-cinema-francetv.fr
With a petition that you can sign here: chng.it/YPf5rzMgcM

« Monsieur le Président, cet oubli de l’art et de la culture, réparez-le ! » [Mr. President, fix this neglect of art and culture!] for the indispensable prolongation of the rights of intermittents du spectaclelemonde.fr/culture/article/2020/04/30/monsieur-le-president-de-la-republique...

Finally, some short films from confinement, commissioned by our friend Thierry Méranger for his students studying film at the Lycée Rotrou de Dreux: parmafenetre.fr/films/window/on-se-souviendra?projet=window

See you very soon!

The FEMA team
